Aveley Avengers Junior Football Club
The Aveley ‘Avengers’ Junior Football Club (AJFC) stands as a thriving hub for budding talents in Australian Rules Football, boasting a rich history that dates back to its inception in 2014. Nestled within the scenic precinct of Turkich Parade Oval, Bolero Road, Aveley WA 6069, this club serves as a pivotal ground for fostering sporting prowess and community engagement.
Aligned with the Swan Districts Football Development Council (SDFDC) under the aegis of the ourstern Australian Football Commission (WAFC) Central Conference zone and the City of Swan area, AJFC embodies a spirit of camaraderie and competitive sportsmanship. From its humble beginnings, the club has expanded its footprint, catering to participants across various age groups and fostering a comprehensive development pathway.
At present, the club hosts a dynamic cohort of Auskick participants, spanning from Pre-Primary to Year 2, who engage in skill-building sessions and training on vibrant Saturday mornings. This nurturing environment not only hones their abilities but also offers them the chance to partake in an annual gala day, where they showcase their prowess against fellow football enthusiasts.
Moving up the ranks, the Junior Mod teams, spanning Year 3 to Year 6, engage in spirited home and away fixtures within the SDFDC zone on Sundays. Here, the focus remains on skill enhancement and teamwork, devoid of league standings or final tournaments.
Elevating the stakes further, the club has broadened its horizons by introducing Junior Youth teams, encompassing Year 7 to Year 12, within the WAFC Central Conference zone. These teams participate in competitive Sunday fixtures, adhering to a structured home and away format, vying for crucial premiership points and the opportunity to vie for championship titles in enthralling finals. This serves as a stepping stone for aspiring talents, paving their way toward coveted development squads, state teams, and even higher echelons like the WAFL and the AFL.
Noteworthy triumphs have graced the club’s journey, such as the crowning achievement of their first Premiership in 2020, where the Year 9 squad emerged victorious against High Wycombe at the illustrious Leederville Oval. Furthermore, the club’s commitment to expansion and progress is evident in the acquisition of a second oval in Brabham, a strategic move aimed at meeting the growing demands and ambitions of its burgeoning membership.
Operating as a community-driven entity, AJFC operates under the stewardship of devoted local volunteers, operating within a framework outlined by the club constitution, By-Laws, and a Code of Conduct. Transparency and accountability remain paramount, with meticulous financial records meticulously maintained through an accredited accounting software program, subject to annual audits that are presented to the members during the Club’s AGM.
The democratic ethos of the club is underscored by the election of its management committee, chosen by the club members, ensuring representation and input from the community. Emphasizing its commitment to excellence, AJFC proudly earned the prestigious AFL Quality Club status in 2018, a testament to its unwavering dedication to fostering a nurturing environment for its players and stakeholders.
AJFC extends an open invitation to aspiring players, supportive parents, and enthusiastic supporters, encouraging active involvement and volunteering within the club. It is a platform where dreams take shape, where young talents envision themselves following in the footsteps of luminaries like Nat Fyfe or Nic Naitanui, and where the collective efforts of the community shape the future of Australian Rules Football.
